Potowatomi Park

It's easy to get a big head about the amazing and dynamic scenery of the Pacific Northwest, but Wisconsin is not without it's ability to rebut with it's own awesome and special spots!  There are plenty of these precious pockets of beauty tucked into the Door County Peninsula and among them in Potowatomi Park.  Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan we were able to enjoy a great little family hike on a perfectly crisp fall day!

We started the day off in the quintessential Midwestern way,
a wagon ride with amazing orchard apples

We towed the wagon to Kick Koffee
and a bready bakery breakfast... delicious!

Baby Nelson...
another ginger in the Meyer clan!

Greg and Ben biked to Potowatomi Park with the girls in tow.
While Lori, Nana, Gimpa, Nelson and I stopped at a cheese factory/gift shop...
guess who got their first?!
(It was the Daddy bears and their girls!)

Looking down on Lori and Nana Sue from the almost-top of the tower.
(I have never been afraid of heights, but this old wooden tower was not constructed with the slightest inkling toward child safety.  The gaps were practically big enough for Norah to walk right through, there were no rails on the stairs, combine that with Norah's complete and utter fearlessness and you have one scared Mama!)
I thought this was plenty high to get the point!

Goofing around with my goofy girl!

The start of our hike along the rim of the bluff.
You can see the tower in the background...
can you blame me for being a nervous Nelly?

Our little Forest Princess bears her crown...
 for all of forty-five seconds!

This little girl just love to be out in the woods!

The Meyer Clan!
(This is why we flew half way across the country, to get this picture.  I'm not kidding.  Never underestimate the power of photo-documentation!)

Reason number two:  see Baby Nelson in his bear suit!
I would fly to the ends of the world to see this!

Norah loves playing chase with Nana Sue.

These two were just so much fun to watch!
Constant motion.

The impetus of the Ice Age Trail,
which Gimpa has helped to make happen.
What a guy!

Can't get enough of this bear suit!

Nelson, you look just like your pops in this picture!

Lovin his Mama play time!

Bath time has never been so much fun!
