Ladies Road Trip: The End of the Road

We finished our journey by heading over to Crater Lake after staying a wonderful night in Shady Cove, Oregon and drinking margaritas by the Rogue River.  We caught a beautiful blue morning and the lake put on quite a show.  The snow was slow to melt this year and was still in fifteen foot drifts along the side of the road, which was only unfortunate because part of the Rim Drive was still closed... but now we have an excuse to go back!

Super Cool.

The highlight for Norah was the little lakes from the snow melt.

We had an amazing trip.  Norah was an incredible trooper and did great in the car, which we were in for at least four hours a day for four days!  Thanks for letting me share the many highlights of this trip!

Ladies Road Trip 3

As we left Crescent City we headed out through the Jedediah Smith Redwoods.  We took an amazing rustic road that lumbers around the bases of these ancient trees.  It was humbling.  We stopped and took a hike to Fern Falls, a long hike that took us deep into this amazing forest.  Norah found it so peaceful that she slept through most of the hike, waking up for the falls and then getting back into her pack.

Yep.  That's a two way road!

Ladies Road Trip 2

After taking in the ocean we headed into the woods to commune with the great trees of the Prairie Creek area of Redwood National Park.  Norah loved running around, over, in and under the trees, it was better than a playground.

The Ah Pah Trail, which used to be an old logging road and was restored in the 90's.

Ladies Road Trip 1

Norah, Gaga and I took to the road and headed to Cali this weekend.  We took scenic highway 101 down the Oregon Coast to Crescent City, California, the gateway to Redwoods National Park.  We had lots of fun exploring this amazing area!

A great place to stretch your legs

So happy together!

Gaga for Waterfalls!!!

Norah and I took Grandma, or Gaga according to Norah, to our favorite waterfall trail along the McKenzie River.  Norah walked all the way from Sahalie Falls to Koosah Falls, which is well over a mile!  She then took up residence in the backpack and napped for the rest of the hike.  Meanwhile Greg had his inaugural mountain bike ride along the entirety of the McKenzie River Trail... uphill.
Here are some highlights!
